This is the first time I've ever made a double layout, and it was lots of fun. Before I started scrapbooking, I thought I'd feel intimidated by filling a whole 12" layout, but I quickly realised that once I've printed off my photos, it is much easier... so now I've increased my scale!
The photos are of a walk on a crisp winter's day from January 2012, and these Winter Frost Speciality papers reminded me lots of the cool tones in the pictures.
I used my Festive Flurry dies to pick out snowflakes from one of the paper designs, finishing them off with a Frosted Finish embellishment. The chevron is a new punch from the current seasonal catalogue, and behind this line of punching, I have layered a scrap of Island Indigo card to add a bit of interest.
I carried the punching into the lower part of the layout, using the punch scraps to stick back over the negatives to create a quirky lattice pattern.
These corners were sent to me by Sherri and were just the fancy swirls I needed to draw the layout together.
Supplies
Ink: Island Indigo marker pen (for the journalling)
Card: Whisper White, Island Indigo
Paper: Winter Frost Speciality Designer Series Paper, Silver Glimmer Paper
Other: rhinestones, Festive Flurry Framelits dies, Bigshot, chevron punch, Frosted Finish embellishments
Non-SU: die-cut corners, Picot circle die, glittery alphabet stickers, border die
I used an old sketch from Sketches in Thyme - I am sad to see this site is on hiatus as I absolutely love their inspiration, but they do put all their sketches onto pages categorised by number of photos so I will continue to make good use of those. As I've used lots of snippets, I'll take this for a play in the Playground.
One of the photos used in the layout is of me on a stile. Little did I know when Mr FT asked me to turn around so he could take a picture that upon the stile was the wording 'No dogs'!! I only realised when I got home and loaded the pictures onto the computer. I still find it funny even now. And on that note...
Scary cat! Have a lovely day and thanks for stopping by,
Great layout Victoria-The colours you have chosen work perfectly with your photographs(love those twisted trees!)
ReplyDeleteI think Mr Furry Tale was very mean making you stand with that sign-I hope he received a suitable punishment!!
Have a great day,
Nessa xxx
Beautiful layout and perfect for those amazing trees! I've been sitting here fascinated with their twisting roots & branches. We don't have anything like that in Iowa! That looked like a really wonderful place to walk & I'm glad you were able to capture it for all time.
ReplyDeleteFab layout Victoria. Oh dear I agree with Nessa - he should have been told off - I would have told mine off if he did that to me. Lovely views and the gnarly trees are fab! x
