Baby Picture

Hello everyone!

In addition to the beautiful quilt Mr Furry Tale made for our nephew for his first birthday, I made a picture frame.  It was a great way to use lots of scraps and odds and ends and I'm quite pleased with the end result... I'm just not used to being outcrafted!!!

Both the blue and yellow papers are from the Tea for Two Designer Series, and they are teamed up with some Very Vanilla card stock.  There are some buttons, ribbon, a flower, some little 3D embellishments from my early crafting days, some stickers and the little ducklings are some window stickers I bought on holiday a few years ago.  So I've used lots of snippets that I can take to play in Di's playground...

Spring is certainly springing now and the lambs are having a hopping time of it.  In the spirit of springtime, I bring you today's happy kitty picture:

Some Enchanted Evening

Hands up if my title got you singing!  Today's card uses the gorgeous Everyday Enchantment papers which are back to order during July only (or until stocks last).  You can even get FREE coordinating brads and ribbon if your order is £45 or more!  And we're not talking about a piddly little amount either, but 30 brads (6 each of 5 designs) and 2 spools of ribbon, each measuring 9 yards!

Here is my card... you saw the beginnings of it yesterday in my WOYWW post:

I used my much beloved postage stamp punch (which is currently retired, but I'm hoping it'll be back in the next Idea Book and Catalogue) to punch out six squares from a piece of Crumb Cake card.  I drew lines on the back in pencil to make sure I lined them up properly.  Then I punched six pieces of Everyday Enchantment paper out and stuck them to my Crumb Cake base.

Top Tip:  Blu-tack your card with the negatives punched out to your base card.  Then you can stick your positives into the gaps and they'll line up exactly when you position your top piece of card with dimensionals.

This is another snippety make for Di and friends in the Snippets Playground.  Hope I can get an extra 5 minutes on the swings, and maybe a go on the slide, for entering a second card!

Mocha Morning Patchwork

Oh what beautiful papers! Mocha Morning speciality papers include sheets with metallic ink and others with black flocking... perfect for stroking!  And they are far too nice to throw away even the tiniest scrap which is why the sketch at Mojo Monday is perfect for them.

I've used two products that will be disappearing at the end of this month: the beautiful Very Vanilla Velvet Designer Ribbon (again perfect for stroking!) and the fabulous and ever so useful Postage Stamp Punch.  If you've been umming and ahing about these, the Spring Mini Catalogue ends on 30th April so do get in touch before then!  Remember too that during April you can choose a free set of patterned paper if your order comes to £45 or more - click the link in my sidebar for more details.

Here's my card; I've done something similar before but it was a much brighter version.

I punched out all the squares and adhered to Early Espresso card.  The flower was stamped in VersaMark onto a scrap of Early Espresso and then embossed in gold before being stuck to a Very Vanilla punched circle. I punched a hole in the circle with my Crop-a-dile before threading through some ribbon and tying it with linen thread.  This was all then fastened to my ivory card base.

I've been tackling some awful jobs over the past few days.  You know the sort of jobs you put off for as long as you can.  Well, when we moved house we managed to unpack quite quickly but lots of empty boxes and lots of mess accumulated in the garage until it was impossible to move around in there.  Two days of hard graft and it is clean and tidy.  And I must admit I do feel rather satisfied with it.  I might make the most of this feeling and clear out my crafting corner as well as it's getting a bit messy...  I wonder if Socks will help?

Fresh Vintage Mother!

In case you're unaware or undecided about the gorgeous Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration goodies, today's card features the beautiful main bloom from the 'Fresh Vintage' set and the 'Everyday Enchantment' Designer Series Paper.  I have been asked to make a "colourful" Mother's Day card and I couldn't think of anything brighter than these stunning papers!

I used the Postage Stamp punch (that I feel is going to become a firm favourite) to create a patchwork effect background.  I cannot speak highly enough of SU punches - they are so easy to use with no need to stand up to give it extra welly!  I coloured the bloom with my Stampin' Write marker pens and look how gorgeously crisp the image is:

The Everyday Enchantment papers are mostly using the In Colour range of colours, but I don't have these markers yet, so I used the next closest alternatives to coordinate with the paper.  The sentiment is stamped in Old Olive, with a couple of lengths of linen thread tied around the middle.  This was all then mounted onto Sahara Sand card stock and popped up on dimensionals.

Yesterday I went up to Edinburgh to see an Italian friend of mine who is over in the UK.  As she is supervising a school trip, I accompanied their visit to Holyrood House which is a fascinating place.  It's a long time since I've heard that much chatter in Italian though!  The highlight of the day had to be when one girl asked me if Italian was my native language!  I was chuffed to bits!
