Flower Power with Addicted to Stamps

Thank you to everyone who shared their holiday memories for my choice of scrapbooking challenge at Addicted to Stamps.  This month, Val has chosen the wonderful theme of 'flowers'.  I wanted to scrap some photos of actual flowers for this but I haven't got any... I decided a while back that I could go totally potty trying to scrapbook my past, so I'm starting with this year and only if I run out of things will I go back in time!  So I went with the brightest floral paper I own: Beyond The Garden together with a good number of flowers scattered on the page as well.

I've scrapped a great day from May when a good friend came for lunch.  It was so beautifully sunny that we scoffed strawberries and lemon drizzle cake in the garden, enjoying one of the few upsides to unemployment!

The subtle yellow floral paper and the bright blooms paper are both from Beyond the Garden, while the pink patterned paper they are layered onto is a sheet of Melon Mambo from the Brights stack.  I've teared all the edges because I felt like it and created my title using my Timeless Type alphabet dies.  The little sunhat at the top of the page was a lovely find in a DIY store in Switzerland a few years ago.  Unfortunately I think this is my last one unless there's one hiding somewhere.  Still it's nicer used than sitting in a drawer!

Supplies
Ink: Melon Mambo marker pen (I love how I can use the fine end of my marker pens to coordinate even my journalling with the colour scheme of my layout!)
Card: Whisper White, Melon Mambo
Paper: Melon Mambo from the Brights stack, Beyond the Garden
Other: Melon Mambo 1/2" inch Scallop Dots Ribbon, Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies, BigShot; straw hat, pink baker's twine and flower brads (non-SU)

I get so chuffed looking through my scrapbook now it's starting to build up!  If you've thought about expanding out from card making, I can highly recommend it.  My lovely Mum and Dad, who have been staying with us this weekend, thought it was such a special way to look back at wonderful memories!

A feline picture then and I'll be off:

So go on, get all floral and share your scrapbooking with us!  Thanks for popping by,

  10. Gorgeous page, loving the LO. I've started dabbling with scrapping, and have to agree it's a lovely way to preserve memories. Only thing is I have a Disney scrapbook to do and it's gonna take me ages just to sift through all the piccies :( I'm not sure, but I may have seen some of the little hats on my travels - if I have I'll let you know. x

  13. Lovely scrapbook page there Victoria and that sun hat is soo gorgeous and too nice to sit in a drawer unloved.
I cannot recommend scrapbooking enough to be able to flick through and remember the time you had in the photos as well as the time you made the page. Much better than going on your computer to find them!
    Great page.

  15. What a fab layout capturing perfectly what looks like a heavenly day! There's a lot to be said for unemployment (I call it freelancing!)... and yes I know Sherlock never says that precise phrase, but the word comes up, so thank you for that!! Btw, your cat pictures rarely fail to make me laugh out loud - for which I also offer big THANKS!

  21. Oh my goodness! I have one of those little hats! I don't remember where I got it, but it's in my stash--and now I know how to use it. Your layout is absolutely lovely--and I bet your actual laying out in the yard and enjoying lemon drizzle cake was even more lovely. What fun! Oh how I miss my summer vacation days.
