Emergency Chocolate

I've had this idea brewing for a while (amazing how many card ideas we come up with when we can't sleep!) and finally did something about it today.  I've made it as a thank you card for someone.

It's still making me giggle looking at it!  If you are not from the UK, you might not have come across Cadbury's chocolate.  It is a scummy yummy 'everyday' kind of chocolate bar.  When I lived in Europe, I noticed that the concept of a chocolate bar to snack on didn't really exist as such; chocolate was more a luxury treat.  And sorry my American friends, but it beats Hershey's hands down!

The letters were cut out using my Timeless Type alphabet dies... I'm really putting them through their paces this week... and mounted onto Concord Crush card, the closest purple to Cadbury's purple.  The fold of the card is like a Shadow Box card, with each end scored twice and then stuck together to give the dimension to fit the chocolate bar in on the back piece of card.  The chocolate is attached with a bit of double-sided tape.  I have, as the sentiment suggests, secured acetate over the aperture.

Supplies
Card: Concord Crush, Whisper White
Other: acetate, Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies, Simply Scored board, chocolate bar

The card is ever so easy to make, and I'm sure it will go down well with its recipient, but there is one major drawback... I got so tempted by making a card incorporating a chocolate bar, I just had to go and help myself to a bar to munch on while working!

I'd like to enter it into the 'anything goes' challenges at Try It On Tuesday and Paper Crafting Journey.

I'm continuing the culinary theme with today's picture:

Thanks so much for visiting, and an extra big thank you if you are a follower or leave a comment.  It means a lot!

  6. Now THIS is my kind of card! I am addicted to chocolate. This is a brilliant idea for a card & one that would be perfect for about anyone. I couldn't believe your post when you said people in Europe don't snack on chocolate bars! That is unbelievable!! Yes, Cadbury chocolate IS a great chocolate. I agree. But I still can't resist a good old Hershey with almonds!

  8. This is one of your American followers who is well aware of Cadbury's. We have it here in the States. Of course, I first discovered it when I was an exchange student at Cambridge. You're absolutely correct that it beats Hershey's. But then, nearly everything does! Love this idea for a thank you card, Victoria. Needless to say, I really like the purple. :-D
I have to agree with the cat -- carrots aren't exactly the tom things on my menu, either. lol

  16. Choctastic card there Victoria.

If I'd made it, my photo would have shown the emergency (like breaking a nail)had already occurred and the card would be minus the Twirl! You had forethought and brought a lucky spare back-up Twirl!

    Have a great weekend.

  23. Hi Victoria, thanks ever so much for making this card for me (hee, hee). I am a real chocoholic and have virtually been without this past week - the best I could find in NY were mint M&Ms (yum). Isn't a Twirl the best chocolate fix - absolutely fabby card. xx
