Easter Bonnet

I hope you've had a nice day today.  It's been a lovely spring day here after the strong winds.  Thank you all for your kind wishes on yesterday's post - I had a really nice birthday.  My friend came to see me and brought a rather delicious lunch and simnel cake with her and I spent the afternoon crafting something for a friend of hers (which I will post on Monday) while we chatted away.  It was great to have some company.  Then my husband got back from work, told me he'd booked today as a holiday without telling me so we could spend some more time together.  He's a real sweetie.... but his head won't fit through the doorway after reading all your lovely comments about his card yesterday!!

I promised I'd draw out two names from a hat... and I wasn't speaking metaphorically... here is the hat:

I've seen this idea around quite a bit recently (for example, here by Michelle and here by Vicki) and desperately wanted to give it a go!  I die cut three circles, including one with a scalloped edge, and ran the two circles through the lattice embossing folder to get that lovely basket weave feel.  I secured the card to a plastic pot, tied some ribbon round and then added some little mulberry paper flowers and Easter chicks for that Easter bonnet look!

Here's the inside (which is now filled with mini eggs as a little welcome surprise for a good friend of mine who is coming to stay with us over Easter):

Supplies
Card: Soft Suede
Other: Whisper White ribbon, lattice embossing folder
Non SU Supplies: Easter chicks, paper roses, plastic container with lid

I'd like to enter this project into the following challenges:
Just Inspirational Challenges - Easter themed photos

Right, without further ado, here are the winners as drawn out of the bonnet by my husband.....

The Idea Book & Catalogue goes to....... Anne-Marie
The handmade something goes to........ Sherri

Congratulations ladies!  I know it's not much but hopefully you will enjoy it!  If you could send me a quick email with your postal address, I'll go to the post office after the Bank Holiday.

It took me ages to find these little chicks.  I'd last used them to make a friend's hen party cake (obviously) and couldn't remember where they'd been put after the house move.  I eventually found them and started to glue them where I wanted them onto the bonnet.  And that was the moment that Socks discovered them.......  I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story.....

I know this last one's blurry but hopefully you can just make out that poor little chick struggling for air in Socks' mouth!!  I had to go and rescue it and that cat was not a happy bunny.... err.... kitty!

Thanks for visiting today.  Gosh, that was a long blog post... well done for making it this far!
