Mosaic Madness Meets Hello, Doily!

Does anyone have any idea where my inspiration and ideas have been over the past few weeks?  I finally get some time to craft, I sit down at my desk and... nada...

I've been pinning, blog surfing, checking out challenge sites (I vaguely remember those from the dim and distant past) and reading a couple of magazines.  I *may* also have ordered some treats from the new annual catalogue plus some pre-order items from the new Autumn/Winter catalogue which launches at the start of next month.  I suspect it was this that helped the most ;-p

Today I have finally come up with something that I like.  It's a CASE of a Christmas card Vicky Hayes made using Mosaic Madness and my favourite colour so this card really stuck in my head.  Here's my take:

I stamped my new Hello, Doily stamp in Versamark and embossed in gold before stamping six mosaic shapes on scrap white card.  My coordinating punch made short work of cutting them out and I scored three of them down the middle to make them look 3D when on the main card.  I added three little pearls to the top of each ornament to try to ground them a little.  This Whisper White panel was mounted onto Cherry Cobbler and then again onto Naturals White card which has lovely little speckles in it.  I used my Cherry Cobbler marker pen to pick out part of the detail of a mosaic border stamp and then the words 'happy' and 'Christmas' from Happy Hour and Simply Sketched.  I stamped a border on the inside of the card as well.

Oh, and what's that intriguing envelope you see in the background?  You'll just have to wait a couple more weeks to find out!

Supplies
Stamps: Mosaic Madness, Hello Doily, Happy Hour, Simply Sketched
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, VersaMark
Card: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Naturals White
Other: gold embossing powder, stamp-a-ma-jig, pearls

I'm entering this into the lovely Di's snippets playground and into the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge where it's all things red and gold this week.

I'm having a great day today.  This morning, while seeing the midwife, I got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time!  It was amazing!

Enjoy your day!

  3. Fabulous card Victoria - just perfect in fact. Love the red, white and gold and such a classy design.

Good to see you in the Playground again. How wonderful to hear the baby's heartbeat - you know you could get the Playground girls to line up and charge them for a listen :) At boarding school in Germany one of the junior girls got the Beatles autographs and the little monster charged us something like one Deutschmark to hold the envelope they'd scrawled their signatures on. Showing my age there - and yup, I was dumb enough to pay up! Our pocket money was only about 1.50 DM a week at the time so it was a costly treat - and no doubt she went on oe be a banker or summick!

Adore your kittie piccie today :) Made me giggle here.

And, I need a copy of the new catalogue - will drop you an email ASAP.

Hugs, and a pat for the babe :)
