World Book Day Scrapbooking

Hello everyone and happy Easter weekend!  I've broken up for the holidays this afternoon and I cannot wait for some quality crafting time!

Today I'm sharing the scrapbook page I made to remember World Book Day this year.  It's the staff rather than the pupils at my school who dress up as book characters and my husband and I started planning my costume back in November.  I spotted a pattern that looked just like Gandalf so I asked him if he could make it for me and he kindly obliged!  A whole lot of fabric and effort went into producing the most incredible costume!  A lot of my pupils didn't recognise me and it certainly made most look twice.  The whole day was just so funny.... teaching French while dressed up like this was certainly an unforgettable experience!

Here's the layout:

The funky looking flowery blue and chevron papers are from the Comfort Cafe papers and I just played around with different shapes and layouts until I was happy.  I had quite a lot I wanted to say so I made two little journalling spots around my picture, using the fine end of my Midnight Muse marker pen to journal so the writing matched the papers!  How's that for coordination!  I did the ribbon border at the bottom with my new Dotted Scallop border punch.

Here's a different angle:

Supplies
Ink: Midnight Muse marker pen
Card: Whisper White card
Paper: Comfort Café Designer Series Paper, (the yellow background paper is from older non-SU stash)
Other: Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies (retired), Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch

I've used a few snippety snippets up on this layout so I can go and play in Di's Crafty Playground.  Now I definitely need a note to explain why I've not been there for so long!

And here's the outfit in all its glory... tunic, trousers, belt, cloak and hat all made by my husband, plus he went foraging for the stick which would become Gandalf's staff.

With all these pictures today, I feel like I'm spoiling you with a cat picture too but I couldn't resist sharing this:

Thanks for stopping by -- I'll be catching up with comments this weekend so apologies if you're feeling neglected! :)

  9. Great costume there Victoria! No wonder your pupils did not recognise you. And well done to Mr Furry Tale for making it for you. I am sure if I asked Mr Hettie it would have been made from brown paper and gaffa tape - much like the sets of Blakes 7 if you remember that program!
    Great layout too!
