I am popping in with a snippety make today so that I can go and play in the Snippets Playground - it's been too long! I bought a cheap canvas for £1.50 in the sales, and decided to replicate some of those lovely butterfly canvases you see in the shops that cost an extortionate amount of money.
Dead simple to make, punching two butterfly shapes from each scrap of patterned paper, three gems in the middle of each and a die cut title.
Supplies
Paper: Brights stack, Neutrals stack, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper
Other: Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies (retired), basic rhinestones, elegant butterfly bunch
Cats and dogs to make you smile today; both are courtesy of the lovely Sam who has sent me two giant emails of animal photos to keep this blog ticking over quite nicely this year!
Thanks for visiting -- and keep your fingers crossed for a snow day and you might see more crafting here soon!
Ha, ha - can hardly type for laughing at Jeff :))
ReplyDeleteAdore your canvas! It's absolutely stunning Victoria - and fabulous use of snippets. I can see a little rush now from the Playground to the likes of The Range for blank canvases. Hugs, Di xx
Your butterflies are beautiful Victoria:-) an a bonus seeing cute and funny doggy pics! Xx
ReplyDeleteIt may be dead simple to make, but it looks fabulous... you're so right that it would cost you a bomb in one of those chi-chi little home-decor shops! Love The Range for canvases... also The Works is great if you have one around... Battles is a brilliant pic!!

LLJ xx
I'm with Di!!! Poor Jeff and that poor doggie in the cat basket! What cracking pictures Victoria:)ROFL
ReplyDeleteLove your butterfly canvas. As you say they can cost a fortune and look nowhere near as good as this. Here's hoping you get your snow day - teachers need a break too and holidays/weekends are so often spent carrying on with marking. Not many people take their work home with them in quite the same way.
Hugs, Jenny x
What a beautiful idea! The butterflies are gorgeous & it makes such a happy, cheerful card as well as uses us some of that leftover paper we all have so much of! I'm hoping you get your snow day! We are just having cold here now.
ReplyDeleteOh, fudge, Victoria, I've wet myself.
ReplyDeleteOh wow hun, love the butterfly canvas, that looks absolutely fantastic - and what a wonderful thing to make. I may have to steal (sorry, be inspired by) this for a present for my mum. Thanks for sharing the photos, I love the first one. Hugs Sxx
ReplyDeleteTe he! I too am hoping for a snow day, lol! I LOVE your canvas! What a brilliant way to use up scraps. Jeff is hilarious!
ReplyDeleteSaw one like this in John Lewis....£20! Not as pretty as yours, and you have the added advantage that you get to choose your colours....result! Both our sons live in Whittle-le-Woods (near Chorley) and phoned at lunchtime to tell me they had SNOW....took it a couple of hours to reach here....but it's comin' down like a good 'un, as I type.....yaaaaay!
ReplyDeleteSnowy days are here again....tra-la-la-la-laaaaa! :D

ReplyDeleteHard to picture your snowy day when half of Australia is burning right now. Fortunately where I am we have a nice breeze today to keep the heat at bay.

Simple, yet absolutely gorgeous! I love the double butterfly, it adds more depth! I really love butterflies at the moment, they are simple but so pretty! :) x
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd pop by and see if you'd posted anything. I'm happy to see that you have and it's a beauty! Hope you got a snow day. I love snow days even though I don't have to go out anyway. Snow days are special! So are butterflies. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteJeff's teeth! So funny :) Love your butterfly canvas ... a simple idea but so effective ... and you've saved yourself a small fortune. I'm sure school teachers are not the only ones wishing for a snow day - how about the kids who are jumping up and down with anticipation of a day sledging, if only there's enough snow. We've now snow here so far. Hope you got your wish. Elizabeth xx
