My Inaugural WOYWW Visit!

I'm a self-confessed nosey crafter and love Wednesdays because quite a number of my blogland buddies link up to What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?, a humongous bloghop organised by Julia Dunnit from the Stamping Ground.  So why on earth, I ask myself, have I not linked up?

The reason is actually quite straightforward: I am a perfectionist.  Big time.  I like things to be *just* so.  Obsessively *just* so.  Now of course my desk gets untidy when I make something, but then I clean it up pretty much immediately... or if not, it certainly would not get posted on the interweb for every Tom, Dick and Harry (or Tomette, Dickette and Harriet) to see.  Anyway, I'm trying to get better about this so before I cleared up yesterday, I grabbed my camera and took a couple of snaps for today.

*Drumroll* Here is your first ever peek at the (big) corner of my dining room that Socks (my cat) so graciously allows me to craft in.  (My husband doesn't have much say in the matter!)

Blatant bit of self-advertising on my laptop and general mess (to me) on my desk.  How is that I'm lucky enough to have a big desk to craft on but I end up working in a ickle area in the middle?

Now I believe brevity is key for WOYWW posts so I shall leave it there.  Looking forward to much more nosiness with you all!  Thanks for stopping by,

PS Happy 4th July to friends across the pond!

  1. Lol I have a huge desk for crafting too, and like you I end up using a tiny little space right in front of me, piling up bits and pieces either side as I go. x

  2. I usually end up with six inches to work in. I think it's just life having a little laugh with us. Sorry your desk is so messy, but take a look at mine and you should feel better about it!

  5. Hi there. Nice to pop in and see your creative world this week. I won't stay long; don't want to give you my cold! Hope you have a good creative week though. And if that's your idea of a mess you'd better not visit mine..... actually perhaps you should because then you'd realise that your mess is not actually a mess at all!

  6. Welcome to WOYWW Victoria! I think we all end up crafting in a tiny space as we squeeze ourselves inwards :)) Di xx

  7. Hi Victoria - great working space and yes, even though your fingers are itching to tidy up, take the photo ... because we want to see it all :)) It's inevitable when your crafting that you will make a mess and even a neatnik like me has come to accept it! I have a massive table to work on, not to mention a worktop, and yet still want/need more space to spread out on :) Hope you have a lovely messy WOYWW day, Elizabeth x #85

  8. Aha . . . a girl after my own heart . . . I am JUST like you . . . a neatfreak at heart . . . but still get messy when CREATIVITY is in progress. Good grief . . . do you own EVERY SU ink pad in the world? AND marker pens . . . I can see I need to spend A LOT more money!

Happy Inaugural WOYWW my friend x

  10. Hi Victoria! I just started joining in with WOYWW last week so I'm a newbie too. My desk gets just like yours - it's pretty big but I usually work on an A3 size gap with everywhere else cluttered up. Happy Wednesday! Sarah (78)

  11. Lol Victoria! I've got a huge big desk too, and work on a postage stamp! One day I shall get properly organised and make much better use of the space I have. Don't worry about being a perfectionist - we're all keen to see everyone's desks whatever they look like, and nobody minds! Well done taking the plunge at last, anyway.

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog, and I'm so glad you like my ATCs and tags. I'm having such fun with them, and really enjoying the swap.

I'm feeling tons better now, thank goodness, and hoping to be good and productive over the next few days, although I've got boring financial stuff to sort out in time for our accountant's appointment next week - I haven't even started yet. I hate it, and would much rather be doing Art!

    Happy WOYWW,

  13. Hi Victoria.

I have a large desk with lots of surface space but its still a mess. My computer is on the corner section and my partner (sometimes annoyingly) piles all of my craft items up because he doen't like anything to spoil his online golf tournaments!

  14. Welcome, Victoria!! It's so fun to see your desk in turn, especially a fellow perfectionist and neatnik! There are definitely different styles on WOYWW, but no one minds or judges, it's all so interesting. But I couldn't find Socks in the picture?!

Thank you for the birthday wishes the other day!! Meet you on the swings later. Darnell #35

  18. Great you join us on WOYWW. Your desk looks perfect, but I understand that showing an untidy desk is not your favorite. It's not my favorite too, but I try to make an organized mess, that feels good to me. Love the way you've organized your ink pads. Thanks for sharing and hope you have a crafty week. Bye, Franka

  20. Hi Victoria! Congratulations! That's a big step you've taken, showing your messy desk to the world (of WOYWW, at least!) I never clean up afterwards! (That's my big confession for today!) But i do close my door on my mess! And before I got married, my husband already knew what a mess maker I was because i wouldn't allow him to see my bedroom! I couldn't sleep on my bed because it was piled high with stuff! Have a nice time hopping around the WOYWW desks. It's addicting!!! patsy

  21. Lol, when I get to a 6" square area clear, it's time to clean up or, lucky me, move to another table. I have to get things neat quickly though or I can't find anything. A little OCD going on with me too.

  22. i had to laugh at your "messy" desk. Mine looks much the same right now & I just cleaned it last nite. I can't create anything without getting out 10 stamps, a table full of dies & punches, a pile of paper & evrything else not nailed down to see what I like the best. I'm lucky my room is upstairs where nobody can see it!

  23. That is not a 'messy' desk hun! Oh no! I've never been brave enough to photograph the mess of our dining room table during and after a crafting session. The only rule I have is that I try to leave enough space for us to have dinner at it - so I am a little better about clearing up after myself. My obsessiveness with my cards (serious OCD) does not carry on into the rest of the areas of my life - wish it did lol! hugs Karen x

  24. I saw on another blog that this is your first WOYWW so thought I would pop by and say welcome. I like clearing my desk up too - if its messy I get in a bit of a stress! My cat is the boss too! Have a good week xx

  26. Welcome Victoria!!! I'm glad you've joined in the fun. Funny, I post photos of my messy table but would be horrified if one of my friends came over to the mess! tee hee (although it's highly possible that some of them visit my blog).

I was off celebrating my independence yesterday so am visiting today. Thanks for leaving your comment and I'm glad I inspired you to join in!!!

  31. Hi Vicotria, I think this is really funny that this is your very first WOYWW welcome anyway as we have been following one another for ages,so we don't need any introduction but welcome you to the gang none the less great to have you on board and hey if you craft in dining room you have every right to be overly obsessive! Me? never obsessed about mess, about other things but not about mess, Shaz in oz.x #73

  32. I'm late with my desk hopping this week, thanks for stopping by mine.
Having seen the previous post with the cats I'm surprised Socks isn't spralled across your desk claiming it as his/her own!
