It's my turn this month to choose a theme and I decided on 'holidays'... be they summer or winter, at home or away. We're not going away this year, so for my layout I picked a lovely long weekend in May when we got up to all sorts of fun, including climbing Ingleborough Fell, which you can see from our house.
I really enjoyed doing this layout. I followed a sketch from Sketches in Thyme, a new challenge blog for me.... if you are a hesitant scrapper like me, do check out their fantastic sketches. There is so much inspiration over there.
I started by layering a sheet of beautiful Twitterpated paper onto Crumb Cake. I layered my photo onto some Crumb Cake designer paper, creating my journalling tab out of Framelits dies. I die cut a circle to zoom in on my husband and me at the top of the Fell, tying some linen thread around the top.
The sentiment is from Baby Prints but I think it is such a great scrapbooking title. It was stamped in Pear Pizzaz to match the background paper. The rest of the page was just adding details where I wanted them: a doily, white and green flowers and leaves, a journalling tag, and wooden butterflies.
Here are some close-ups:
Supplies
Stamps: Baby Prints
Ink: Pear Pizzaz, marker pen in Soft Suede
Card: Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Paper: Twitterpated Designer Series Paper, Crumb Cake from the Neutrals stack
Other: BigShot, circle dies, linen thread, Framelits dies (Non-SU: doily, journalling ticket, wooden butterflies, paper flowers and leaves, mini brads, border punch)
I started scrapbooking as a way of getting through a bit more of my stash, but it's turning into a bit of a love! I love how my album is taking shape and it's so nice to look through at the layouts I've done already. So many memories and stories to go with the pictures. Why not give it a try? You never know, you might just enjoy it!
Thank you so much for visiting,

ReplyDeleteI really adore the colours you have used on this layout, Victoria. The whole thing is just very classy and lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria, just had to let you know that we are not going to Kirkby Lonsdale today, it's tomorrow and we are planning an overnight stay, so hopefully the sun will make an effort just for us :))
ReplyDeleteLove your layout - the subtle colours you've chosen are foil for the photo ... the brightly coloured clothing would fight with anything more vibrant.
I had to look at the photo twice as we have one taken in a similar pose on a similar hill top - however we are wearing winter gear. It's not the same hill top, we were on Lose Hill in Derbyshire.
Maybe you could keep your fingers crossed for tomorrow's weather for us :)) Elizabeth xx
