Hello again, I'm back with a couple of quick cards made using some leftover snippets from the lovely new Twitterpated paper. Paper is far too nice to throw away but I do struggle to be disciplined at using it up.... I must confess to having an impressive mountain of paper scraps to get through. And the problem with snippet makes is that they only use a tiny bit at a time so the mountain never seems to go down.
Anyway, enough moaning. Here are two cards I've made this afternoon, neither of which is particularly original as I've seen numerous variations on these themes before, but hey....
First up is the banner with accompanying hearts. I love that next to the Designer Paper in the catalogues it always tells you the colours in the paper, which makes it so easy to pull out the appropriate ink pads to stamp with. These hearts from the I {Heart} Hearts set were stamped in Blushing Bride, Baja Breeze and Island Indigo. Three little pearls were added underneath and the top corner was rounded.
This second card is just rectangular scraps, tied up with baker's twine. The Whisper White square they are mounted onto is layered up on dimensionals onto textured Whisper White card, which makes for a subtle but rather pleasing contrast. I finished the card by cutting the right hand edge with my Edgelits. This wasn't my initial intention but I'd got mixed up with my measurements and so to make the card a square, I chopped the side of, but I did chop it *artistically*... ahem...
So there you go, easy peasy lemon squeezy. I'd like to enter these into Di's Snippet Playground. I'm a new kid here, but I'll play nicely, honest. I promise I haven't nipped anyone or pulled anyone's hair.
Thanks as always for visiting, and thanks so much for all the lovely comments you leave. They really are very much appreciated - they bring sunshine into my day!
My box of snippets seems to grow too. I'll be saving these wonderful ideas to try to use some of them up. BTW, I used inspiration from your Apothecary Art card for the Mellow Yellow challenge at LIM for my next Stamp Stack. It makes such a bright cheery card. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThey look gorgeous Victoria, love them both :o) I'm sure snippets multiply when I use them, they never seem to go down at all! Hugs, Lisa x
ReplyDeleteHave you been shovin' some of your snippets into my mound? It multiplies as soon as I turn my back! Great ideas, though....might swipe some inspiration....could see the last one as a Christmas card, with lots of bits of sparkly paper....hmmmm!
ReplyDeleteHi chick! Am laughing here - such fab cards (truly great!) a clever girl indeed.
ReplyDeleteBut am laughing about you being the 'new kid on the block'. I promise you, the playmates are a fabby bunch and you'll soon get used to them. We might be mad, we might be daft kids, your snippets won't always go down in numbers (mine seem to breed overnight) - but you'll make some great friends, find loads of inspiration (not that you need it) and most of all, I hope, have some smiles and fun!

PS Mind the duck pond and if Mrs A offers you a go on her pogo stick just refuse, also Sam is to be wary of - she only wants a flipping go-kart in the playground! I ask you!!! But,loads of old fashioned sweeties to be had of course :)
Love both your cards and your pussie cat. I had a black and white bi colour Persian called Wimpey. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteThese are both fab. Super use of your snippets. x
ReplyDeleteAdorable cards, both of them! I have a mountain, too, only recently neatly sorted by color into a rolling cart. Does that mean I first go there for paper? No, it does not. (Insert forehead slap.)
ReplyDeleteI love these cards Victoria, what a great way to use your snippets, they are simply elegant.

Two beautiful cards Victoria - both perfect for any occasion - Jacqueline xx
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria welcome to the playground, so nice to have you. Your cards are absolutely fabulous! Great color combos on both and great save on the second. Hope you come join us again.

Ooh . . . Hi Victoria . . . great to see you in the Snippets Playground. It's a fun cyber place to be. We have lots of toys to play with. Wanna go on the swings with me? Be careful of the duck pond . . . the notorious Mrs A has already had a spill in it! We had to wring her out! There are pogo sticks; space hoppers; swings; a roundabout; a slide; a see-saw. Go Karts have been firmly banned from the playground though! Not sure if we're getting a pets corner . . . but if so, I'll be sure to bring Margot & Harriet in!
ReplyDeleteOh, and after all that . . . I nearly forgot to say how much I LOVE what you've made with your snippets. They are such cool cards. See you again soon I hope.
Hugs,

Yep, knowing exactly what you mean about the scraps Victoria. I have 2 12x12 boxes, one for patterned card/paper and one with plain card. I am really good at getting through the plain card but the patterned I struggle with because I have so much patterned I just want to use different stuff grrr!!!!. Never mind. What a great idea to use it up though with these lovely cards. Loving what you have done with the pressie card and how you have layered the boxes in different patterns. You go girl and you will soon get through your scraps. Hugs Clare xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria, welcome to the lovely playground, its a fantastic place to be with great friendly crafters. Sometimes there's a queue for the swings but you'll never be short of offers of a gentle push :)
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful, l love that twitterpatted paper! Great use of snippets and to make you feel better, my stash never seems to go down either!
Hope you have a great weekend xx
Hi Victoria, didn't make it myself this week to the playground but a big welcome to you and your great cards.

Hello Victoria. Hope we can be friends in the playground! I have been playing on the carousel in this horrid weather and the Unicorn is free if you want to hop on. I also have some jelly babies in my pocket. No black ones and I am sure they will be fine once the fur has been picked off! Hee Hee.
ReplyDeleteWith you on the stash mountain. Don't think it will ever get down!
Such fabulous cards and welcome to the snippet playground, I guarantee you will be hooked.
