You know when you have this mental image of a card, but then no matter how hard you try, you just can't quite get it to look how it did in your mind? This card was like that for me. The finished card isn't what I was imagining but unfortunately I have dishes to wash!
I've been wanting to play around with paper weaving for a while as I think the results can be quite striking. And I thought it might just work with the
Colour Q colours this week as they are of the bright and bold variety. I think my idea was good but it just needs a bit of a rethink. Another day.
Yesterday I was changing the spare bed. As usual, I threw the pillows to one side and went to dig out the clean sheets. I was out of the room for no more than a minute. I returned to find Socks making himself very comfortable. He thought I'd put them out specially for a new bed for him. After all, he only sleeps in his basket, on the spare bed, on my office chair, on dining chairs, on our bed, on the sofa, on the armchair and on the carpet in general.
Thanks for stopping by today. A big wave hello to my new follower Jenée from
Ma'am's Musings!
Oh I know what you mean Victoria, you get this idea in your head but frustratingly it doesn't work out as envisaged. It still works as a masculine card though. Socks looks like lord of the manor lying there! xx
ReplyDeletethis may not be what you were aiming for, but it is very striking just the same! I had to laugh at Socks. Brady doesn't want to plant himself in the middle of the bed when I change sheets, he wants to help. Literally! Ever try to pull a sheet in one direction when someone else is pulling in the opposite? I usually close him out of the room while I change them for my own sanity. ha ha
ReplyDeleteWe had a kitty for a long time. She ran the house! I like your paper woven design. Very artistic!
ReplyDeleteFantastic card - and one very comfy cat too :) Di xx
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how, but cats have the funny ability to be able to find every comfortable place in a home and proceed to lie there and anywhere else that they 'deem' to be comfortable - never mind the inconvenience to the humans! Love the card very graphic and stylised, and what i regularly make doesn't always come out how i want it to!
ReplyDeleteHee hee . . . I see Socks has made himself "at home"!
ReplyDeleteThe card . . . well it is striking . . . and I like it.
We all have days when cards don't go to plan. I've never tried paper weaving (although some might say I should take up BASKET weaving!). So I commend you for trying it.

I love the way you try new things all the time Victoria and this woven card is a great idea! Cats are so funny aren't they? When I was doing my daughter's make up for her prom I patted a cushion to show her where to lay her head and Tuppence was up there like a shot! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely, Victoria, great fresh design, it turned out great! Your "Socks" looks like my "Daisy" but is like all my cats! I get out of the chair in my craft room to get something and my "Tigger" hops right up and is settled before I turn around! But I would not have it any other way! Thanks for joining us this week at the ColourQ and sharing your card.
ReplyDeleteOriginal design. Wonderful colours. Fabulous realization ! Bravo ! I like !!!

Ooh, I think it's a great card hun - the colours are fab and it reminds me of an American Indian quilt - gorgeous. And I had to laugh at Socks, simply because one night this week I had been in for half an hour and still not seen Vince, on popping upstairs I found him on the bed basking in the last of the sun, belly upwards. I virtually had to dig him out! Hugs Sxx
ReplyDeleteWhat are pets like ! My rosy if she sees anything on the floor she thinks its for sleeping on, my gym bag is her fave even a carrier bag will do as long as its not the floor. Socks is a real cutie. Love your paper weaving, I wouldn't even attempt it looks far to tricky to me.

Its nice to try something new and its a fab card don't fret.
ReplyDeleteSocks is a case isn't he , I had two cats who were brothers and both lived until they were 16years old they used to get up to all-sorts .
Its fun to have him follow you around like he does , He looks so cumfy.
Have a good weekend Hugs Elaine
It's a great card Victoria - fab bright colours and striking design. Socks looks very happy with his new bed lol! Our cat's discovered the perfect place for his daily spot of sunbathing - the kids' trampoline... good job they love him! Hugs, Lisa x
